Square Fires All Retail Gun Dealers

FirearmConcierge just posted the following on Reddit:

Just got the notice this morning that had a subject line of “Updating our Seller Agreement”

As a firearm retailer, this usually means one of two things.
1. They’re raising rates.
2. You’re about to get dropped and you need to start looking for a new processor.

I took a quick skim through the language and I figured it was mostly boilerplate, so naturally I hit CTRL-F and typed in firearm. Note, the bold sections are my emphasis.

Old Square Seller Agreement:
By creating a Square Account, you also confirm that you will not accept payments in connection with the following businesses or business activities: (1) any illegal activity, (2) buyers or membership clubs, (snip) 23) internet/mail order/telephone order firearm or weapon sales, (24) internet/mail order/telephone order cigarette or tobacco sales,

NEW Square Seller Agreement:
By creating a Square Account, you also confirm that you will not accept payments in connection with the following businesses or business activities: (1) any illegal activity or goods, (2) buyers or membership clubs, (snip) (23) sales of (i) firearms, firearm parts or hardware, and ammunition; or (ii) weapons and other devices designed to cause physical injury

I think all the gun show vendors who sell knives are about to throw away all their square readers.

PayAnywhere has no such restriction and is advertising on TopGunReview.com. They offer basically the same service.
