According to a spokesperson with DPS, the state has 584,000 CHL holders. Since the Newtown shootings, the state has seen a huge increase in interest for CHL’s and now state employees have to work overtime to meet the demand.
Specifically, DPS employees who handle background checks have been working extra hard.
DPS says it may take a few extra days for some folks to get their CHL’s but the state is still issuing them well within the 60 day time limit.
