Man in Capitol Shooting Pleads Guilty
The man who fired a gun at the Capitol in January 2010 pleaded guilty Monday morning to possession of a weapon in a prohibited place.
Fausto Cardenas was initially charged with firing a gun on the Capitol steps. Through Spanish translation, Cardenas received five years of a probated sentence and 180 days in jail after he pleaded guilty.
Cardenas’ attorney, Stephen Orr, said Cardenas was going through a tough time when the incident happened but is not a danger. Cardenas will be officially sentenced on Sept. 8.
