Bill Lets Texas Lawmakers Carry Guns Where Public Can’t
Texas senators have voted to allow legislators and statewide elected officials who are concealed handgun license holders to carry their weapons into places the rest of the public is not.
The bill by Sen. Dan Patrick, a Houston Republican, would let lawmakers carry their concealed handguns into bars, churches, sporting events and businesses.
Patrick says he is licensed to carry a concealed handgun. The bill also covers federal prosecutors.
The bill passed on a 25-6 vote. Supporters say lawmakers, judges and prosecutors are potential targets for assassins and should be able to carry protection at all times.
The bill now goes to the House for consideration.

While I believe in expanding gun rights, I think that in principle SB905 is a bad bill. If the bill allowed all CHL holders the right to carry guns in what are now prohibited locations, I would have no problem with this bill. But this bill sets up a class system, of the governors and the governed. That’s what makes this bill bad. Time to call your Representative and voice your opinion on this bill.
No that is not right. What makes them more prepared in a shooting situation then a regular chl holder.
