Dallas cop mistakenly shoots rookie cop

A veteran Dallas police officer accidentally shot a rookie while they were searching a house.

Dallas Police Department officials say Ricardo Solis was on his third day of street patrols when he was shot Friday morning. The bullet struck his vest but did not puncture it. He has been treated and released from a Dallas area hospital.

Police said the two officers were searching an abandoned house for an aggravated robbery suspect in west Dallas when the veteran officer mistakenly fired his gun and struck Solis.

The shooting is under investigation.
