If we do this, they win…

I know we’re all mad as hell because we feel that our votes don’t matter and those representing us are more interested in grabbing power than, well, representing us.  But this isn’t the way to go about it.

If we react with violence right now, those in power will have an excuse (don’t think they won’t take the opportunity) to say that we are really all violent gun toting, government hating rednecks. How I would hate to see a response from the politicians to this sort of behavior that could end up in something as extreme as suspension of the constitution or bill of rights. Don’t give them the opportunity.

I love my country and hate to see it changing the way it is.  I’m deeply saddened that my 1 year old son may never have a chance to know America the way I do, as a proud, courageous, freedom-loving country.  Right now the best way to combat them is to get involved.  Call or write your senators.  Call or write your congressman.  Show up at their local offices.  Be visible and make sure your voice is heard.  If you can, get involved on a local level.

The NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action has a handy form that you can use to contact your elected officials.  Simply enter in your zip code and it will give you the contact information for your representative officials, with the option to contact all of them at once.
